This will be my 3rd year racing. This
definitely keeps me young. Riding around with with young bucks
like Conrad Band, Uli Salas and each of us trying to stay on
Michael's rear wheel has taken 20 years off the top. I feel like
a 23 year old thanks to the Emde's. Attack!
The highlight of 2006 was traveling to France
with my lovely wife Jana and Teammate Robb Repp to participate
in the 2006 Etape du Tour. The course traced Stage 15 of the
Tour de France and culminated with a finish on top of legendary
Alps
d'Huez. Thanks to Emde Sports I peaked (bad pun) at EXACTLY the
right time. Imagine climbing AdH after 109 miles and smiling all
the way to the top!
I've had some success racing locally, I feel
like a million bucks, and I've met some truly inspiring people.
One of the hardest things for me when I began
training to race (I'm 42) was to submit to the idea that "harder
isn't always better." Friends tell me that I'm the most
competitive person they know (they don't know Michael!) I always
want to push myself harder. Fact is though, once I made the
commitment to follow Michael's plans I saw much more success,
and I saw it faster. You don't have to feel like you've been run
over by a truck after every workout. I follow the training so I
can work harder during the races. The better I get, the HARDER
it gets because I'm capable of more, and so on...it NEVER gets
easier and I LOVE that!
